Loie Fuller, 1902

Amazing silk costumes, modern lighting effects, and the one of the first practitioners of "free dance", reminding me how little I know and how experimental she was.

Quelle Horreur!

Carine is leaving French Vogue.....after 10 years at the helm I wonder what she's up to next...

Shirts 'R' Us

If I were a guy I like to think that I would pull off something like these shirts from Sidian, Ersatz & Vanes, really nicely.
They are the perfect compromise between style and function, plus the photography from the look book is pretty sublime....

Back to the 90s (again)

On Friday night I managed to get a last minute ticket to see Primal Scream perform the whole of Screamadelica. It was brilliant, I love Bobby Gillespie.

Confetti System

I posted a picture from The Selby a few months ago of some metallic tassels hung against a wall, I didn't realise at the time that they were the handywork of The Confetti System.
I just discovered their website and amazing work. Paper decorations, metallic fringing and faded pastel colors tick all of my taste boxes!
I am now considering turning my room into a fringed, paper decorated grotto.

Hear me Hermes!!!

This Sunday I was lucky enough to visit the Hermes pop-up shop in Arnold Circus, Shoreditch, London.
I wasn't sure what to expect but it was way beyond.
Ofcourse Hermes scarves are classic and statement and pretty, but having the chance to look at them, try them on, and get styled in them by a professional has blown apart my old opinions.
Hermes scarves are BEAUTIFUL, and the shop was wonderful. It's aim was to challenge opinions about stuffy scarf wearers and to make them more accessible and on-trend, mission accomplished!

Hair antics

I have been talking about hair a lot over the past week, braided fringes, huge top knots, french rolls, the lot.

I am still waiting for the day I can bust this look out...........

Matthew Williamson's first show, SS 1998

Pattern Recognition is right again!

This video is brilliant, I love George, and I love muscle cars too!
Pattern Recognition is always ahead of the curve!

Stay Together

So Pulp are back together, blur killed it last summer and Suede have released a best of album, reminds me how much I loved all of them...............

Renard Bijoux

I have been on a crazy marathon of accessories, footwear and leather tradeshows for work, which has been hard at times, but meeting this little guy in Paris instantly lifted the spirits.
He is part of the brilliant collection from Paris based Renard Bijoux.

Nice Spex

This blog is great!
I love eyewear, and this is one of the newer, cooler, easy to sift through, contemporary blogs I have found........Check it out.............

This Is England '86

I absolutely cannot wait to watch this next week. I am a huge fan of director Shane Meadows and this follow up drama series to his last feature film This Is England looks & sounds great, the trailer kills it already.

A super talented friend of mine, Lauren Nikrooz, worked on the art direction, and assures me it looks amazing!

Backstage

I came across the photographer Mark Shaw for the first time the other day, and fell in love with the backstage photographs he took during the 1950s and 60s, full of energy and elegance. He has been credited as the first photographer to publish backstage fashion show photos, as well as taking some massively iconic images during his heyday.

Perfectly Illustrated

Giulio Miglietta is kind of a badass, has a beard, rides a Harley, etc etc, but he is also a great illustrator.
(This is also the Rio Cinema at the end of my road)

Free People love vintage & other stuff...........

The American brand Free People haven't really been on my radar, til I picked up on there new 'Vintage Loves' collection, sourced by their vintage buyer. The exclusive, limited collection includes some beautiful pieces, the french beaded necklaces are my favourite:

Their mainline jewellery collection is surprisingly good too, check it out.....

Dreamy looks, dreamy beats........

My friend Ben Perdue sent me this the other day, saying that the song was great but that he knew I would love the long haired, buttoned-up guys in the band, he was correct, they are great!

Hippies

I can't seem to stop loving this picture, it's been on my desktop for about 2 years......
