Hear me Hermes!!!

This Sunday I was lucky enough to visit the Hermes pop-up shop in Arnold Circus, Shoreditch, London.

I wasn't sure what to expect but it was way beyond.

Ofcourse Hermes scarves are classic and statement and pretty, but having the chance to look at them, try them on, and get styled in them by a professional has blown apart my old opinions.

Hermes scarves are BEAUTIFUL, and the shop was wonderful. It's aim was to challenge opinions about stuffy scarf wearers and to make them more accessible and on-trend, mission accomplished!

The American brand Free People haven't really been on my radar, til I picked up on there new 'Vintage Loves' collection, sourced by their vintage buyer. The exclusive, limited collection includes some beautiful pieces, the french beaded necklaces are my favourite:

Knots and ropes, tassels and trends

I went to Seoul and Hong Kong a while ago and couldn't get enough of the traditional knottes silk ropes adn tassels that seemed to decorate everything. Since I came back I have been seeing them more and more.....

Silk Ropes

While I was in Seoul in April I noticed a bit of an updated Eastern accessories trend for using coloured silk ropes as belts, haphazardly tied over outerwear, and knotted into jewellery. I love the contrast with denim and casual street looks.

Halbstark

I recently stumbled across Karlheinz Weinberger's photographs of the Swiss 'Halbstark' biker subculture, taken during the late 1950s. The images are brilliant, the out of proportion accessories, dirty denim and flamboyant styling looks totally contemporary. Horse shoe belt buckles.....amazing....

Simplicity at it's best

The much talked about debut collection from Pheobe Philo at Celine deserves all the air toime it can get in my opinion. The accessories and simple footwear collection are so simple and so perfect.
