All I want to wear... Jerome C. Rouseau.......
The new A/W collection from Jerome C. Rousseau is all I want to wear now now now, and if that isn't enough, the interview with Jerome on the Kluster blog seals the deal:
'Kat Hartmann: What inspired you to first begin designing shoes?
Jerome C Rousseau: As a young teenager in Quebec, I came across a band called Deee-Lite. They were wearing wild footwear and I started drawing these shoes in art classes. Drawing shoes became something I wanted to do all the time, and after researching the history of shoes it evolved into a strong passion. I ended up moving to London to study at Cordwainers College, which turned out to be the start of a brilliant journey for me.'

"It doesn't have to be spiritual............."
Object trouve jewellery is nothing new, and there are so many variations on this theme out there, but I was instinctively drawn to the collection of necklaces by Worn Path I came across yesterday.
Maybe it's the composition, or the simplicity or the placement of the pieces of vintage charms, minerals, bits of wood that appeals to me, or the hand made in the woods aesthetic, whatever, I think they are great.
A nice sentiment from the brand too:
"a goal of WORN PATH is to offer pieces at price only a small percentage over the price of the acquisition of the supplies used therein. WORN PATH is led by the spirit of giving, sharing, inspiring and creating."

H by Harris
London based men's accessories designer Harris Elliott provides the answer to the tricky proposition of creating a functional and stylish collection of bags for men. His interview on oki-ni is a great insight into an honest approach to designing desireable men's bags.

The brand began with the quilted leather laptop bag and has developed into a great presentation of functional pieces. I especially love the waxed leather holdall.

Whimsy styling
The styling of Karen Walker's new jewellery catalogue is lovely, the use of muted ceramic tones, kitsch whimsy styling, delicate feminine nostalgia.

Purple haze
Old or new ?
I love these deep purple sandals. The carpet, composition and styling totally takes me back to 1984 in my parents front living room, it looks like one of the photos taken to use up the end of the roll of film.

Tassels on the street
I spotted a girl at lunch wearing an amazing tasseled bum bag and instantly remember the tasseled accessories from Borba Margo, right up my street.

M.M.M.
So last Friday I went to see the Maison Martin Margiela exhibition at Somerset House in London. It was brilliant, from the first room, giant inflatable tabi boots, to the last 'birthday room' videos and stills of shows since the beginning of the label, with giant silver sequins and white paper confetti on the floor.
Seeing his work retrospectively just made me realise what a visionary designer he really is, everything was so inspiring, and the concepts, as they were explained were unpretentious and produced innovative , desirable collections.
Some personal highlights included the collection of show invites, the A/W 2000-01 XL collection, trompe-l'oeil accessories, the duvet coat, and the amazing 90s footage of shows and backstage.
If you haven't seen it already, you must go....

£5 for a bit of desert serenity isn't bad
I picked up this collection of photographs, made into a large newspaper format from Albam in London, a great new menswear store. The images by Nicholas Gottlund are so ambient and serene.

Silk Ropes
While I was in Seoul in April I noticed a bit of an updated Eastern accessories trend for using coloured silk ropes as belts, haphazardly tied over outerwear, and knotted into jewellery. I love the contrast with denim and casual street looks.
