The final product looks pretty average, but I love the video and her mood boards look great.

"I wish I was from Brooklyn"

This is what I overheard a guy saying behind me at the Brooklyn bands showcase; Small Black/ TANLINES/ Javelin gig in Dalston, London last night. All three bands were brilliant, and sounded like the best holiday you've ever been on, 'Tropical Crunk' so it's been called!

Small Black
TANLINES
Javelin

While we were perusing the merchandise table I clocked the Small Black T-shirts, which totally summed up the band's sound, but also confirmed something I've been thinking about for a while, the revival of 90s surf t-shirts. The Fat Willy's Surf Shack t-shirts which were massive in the late 1980s/ early 90s, immediatly spring to mind, as well as the old Ocean Pacific styles. I am now on the hunt for a super faded 'Tropical Crunk' one for this tropical summer.

Elke

I recently came across these images of the jewellery collection from Australian brand Elke, from a couple of seasons ago, I'd forgot how much I loved the painted glass lockets, they are so unique, it was definitely one of my faourite brands I saw while I was visiting.

Halbstark

I recently stumbled across Karlheinz Weinberger's photographs of the Swiss 'Halbstark' biker subculture, taken during the late 1950s. The images are brilliant, the out of proportion accessories, dirty denim and flamboyant styling looks totally contemporary. Horse shoe belt buckles.....amazing....

YARD SALE

Inspired by a recent obsession with selling our old stuff at car boot sales and twee jumble sales my flatemate came up with the idea of having a yard sale. We have a big back yard and the forecast said it was going to be sunny, so we baked some cakes and made some invites...

Unfortunately just after we set all our posessions out it started to rain! Just before the big downpour happened our friend managed to take some pictures and posted a lovely piece about it on her blog!

Earrings Earrings Earrings!

I keep thinking about multiple ear piercings, different studs, sizes, places etc...

Old to New

Last week turned into a bit of a gig marathon, with the highlights being The Slits and Best Coast, both girl rock, both brilliant in really different ways.

Ari Up from The Slits was brilliant, & had an amazing dreadlock hairdo going on. BASHMENT!

Best Coast were amazing, brilliant songs, witty banter, packed gig and a great signed EP for £5 finished it of perfectly.

Pop Up Pirates

There is a new bar opening on the 19th of May in Clerkenwell, which looks pretty exciting. A co-lab project by CIA & The Mothership Group (behind The Book Club in Hoxton) have taken over an old warehouse and covered it in all sorts of bright stuff to look at, I can't wait.

Old Hat

One of the stalls at the infamous Lille flea Market was just a pile of amazing hats. Each one I pulled out from the jumble of felt, fur and wool had it's own style, and lovely details.....

Simplicity at it's best

The much talked about debut collection from Pheobe Philo at Celine deserves all the air toime it can get in my opinion. The accessories and simple footwear collection are so simple and so perfect.

California can do no wrong........

Californian photographer Nicholas Haggard (brilliant name) was featured in the last issue of Lines & Shapes magazine, and I instantly felt drawn to his work. A great mix of colour, personal portraits, still life and generally capturing a moment.
