Vintage Skate

So it seems like everyone's a skater now, re-living the '90s slacker lifestyle or just cashing in on the '90s revival. I love this massive board I saw in Lille, reminds me of Slacker and my brother in the 80s.

Bass in Your Face 2010!

So the top of my Christmas list this year is a bass guitar. In an attempt to learn some new skills and live the rock 'n roll dream, and there is no better inspiration than Jennifer Herrema, from Royal Trux, amazing style!

1966

Continuing the 1960s theme, after reading about Czech director Vera Chytilova's 1966 film 'Daisies', I found these amazing stills. The colours are so perfect, and the composition, costume and general attitude is totally enchanting. The film was banned from the Czech Republic at the time, but has been released on DVD for the first time just last month.

Instant Obsessions

After much deliberating as to whether to go or not on Sunday I went on a last minute trip to Lille, France, for 'Europe's largest flea market'. It did not disappoint. I went into the zone as soon as we arrived and managed to come back with bags of stuff, a real ramshackle bunch of accessories, books, ornaments and objects trouve like they say. During that one day a few instant obsessions were born and re-ignited. The first is earrings, primarily 1950s and 1960s earrings. I feel like the time is right for them again, here are a few I picked up.

The End of High Heels?

This is a feature I was asked to contribute to a few weeks ago on the 'death of the high heel' and popularity of flats for women. As I say I think that high heels will always be a staple in every woman's wardrobe, but flat pumps have eeked their way into our lives in one way or another and can be blessed relief on those days when you just can't face the towering heights of sky scraper platforms.

End of the summer, the start of an obsession

I cannot stop watching this sweet Super 8 video for San Francisco based band, Girls' new single 'Lust for Life'. The saturated colours, carefree teenage jumping on beds and general sense of nostalgia hits just the right cord with me right now. The lead signer has some great style too, definitely ones to watch.
